No Day But Today: RENT 20th Anniversary Tour

In addition to my trip to the musical stylings of my favorite 90s FBI agent, this week, I was also lucky enough to see the 20th Anniversary touring cast of RENT at the Golden Gate Theatre. Bless my friend George for sharing his birthday bounty with me!

Musical theatre nerd confession: I’d never actually seen RENT live.

I know, I know. I’ve got “Will I?,” “One Song Glory” and “Seasons of Love” embedded in my marrow from repeated chorus performances through my formative years in the mid-90s. The movie version was one of the first DVDs I requested when I joined Netflix after I graduated from college over a decade ago. But this was my first time seeing the stage show as it was meant to be seen.

Weekend Wrapup

img_7412I didn’t get everything done this weekend that I wanted to, but I do feel more rested than I normally do on a Sunday night (even though it’s Monday night). So I’m counting the weekend as a win!

Saturday, I slept for 14 hours! I guess you could I was a bit tired after the week! I did an abbreviated version of my coast walk in order to have time to run errands before things closed. I only succeed in getting the oil changed in the car and running out to the outlet mall just before it closed. Continue reading

Ready for a Long Weekend

Today was one of those days at work, where my plan for the day went out the window about an hour into it. I did actually get everything done that I wanted to do, but I was there for an extra hour and half. Except for a quick trip to Starbucks (gotta have a frappuccino on a day like this!), I was at my desk, not moving. Inputting 500+ email addresses into our latest invite took much longer than I thought, and everything was sore by the time I was done. I really just wanted to hop on the bus back to my car and call it day.

Quick Hits Before Bed

Trying to get back into this writing thing after a few days off!

  • Had a lovely dinner with Katia, J and J’s British parents at one of my favorite restaurants. Now have enough leftovers to last me quite a while!
  • Also had lovely dinner out last night with the grad program. Fabulous mac & cheese to cap the meal (which you would NOT expect at a Peruvian place, but YUM!)
  • Read a fabulous piece in Forbes about Isabella Boylston, which led me to an article in Elle about what she eats (which was fascinating in itself). But that made me realize that my favorite ballet people are on Instagram, just like any other public people. So I did a lot of ballet following today and my feed is better for it.
  • And because of that, I also did Day One of the ab workout that Jenny at Southern Savers started yesterday (so I’m a day behind). I forgot how much sit ups hurt my tailbone and all the joints cracking as I did leg raises. But I’ve got to add strength in addition to cardio, so here’s a place to start.

Trying to go to bed earlier tonight because I’m already exhausted and it’s only Tuesday!

Home Is…

Home is where the heart is. I left my heart in San Francisco.

“Well, I won’t sit idly by as you hurl cliches at me.” Continue reading
